Fun with Paper Mache: Create Your Own Craft!

Materials You Will Need

• Newspapers
• Flour
• Water
• Balloon (or a mold of your choice)

Steps to Create Your Paper Mache Craft

1. Start by tearing the newspapers into small strips. They should be about 1 inch wide.
2. In a bowl, mix one part flour with two parts water to make a glue-like paste. Stir it well until there are no lumps.
3. Blow up the balloon or use your chosen mold. If you’re using a mold, make sure it’s well covered in plastic wrap.
4. Dip each newspaper strip into the glue mixture. Remove excess glue and stick it onto the balloon or mold. Layer several strips until it’s nicely covered.
5. Let it dry completely. This might take a day or two. Once dry, pop the balloon if you used one.
6. Now it’s time to paint your creation! Use bright colors and have fun. Let the paint dry, and if you like, add a coat of varnish for a shiny finish.
