Fun Paper Mache Craft: Create Your Own Animal!

Materials Needed

• Old newspapers
• Flour
• Water
• Balloon (for shape)
• Paint (bright colors)

• Plastic sheet or tray (to catch mess)

Steps to Create Your Animal

1. Prepare the Paste: Mix 1 part flour with 2 parts water. Stir until smooth.
2. Prepare the Balloon: Inflate the balloon. This will be the base for your animal’s body.
3. Rip Newspaper: Tear the newspaper into strips. Each piece should be about 1 inch wide.
4. Apply Paper Mache: Dip a strip of newspaper in the paste. Remove excess paste and stick it onto the balloon. Cover the entire balloon with 3-4 layers.
5. Dry It: Hang the balloon in a safe place to dry overnight. Make sure it’s away from pets!
6. Paint the Animal: Once dry, pop the balloon and paint your animal with bright colors. You can add eyes and other features.
